In today's message Malcolm takes us through James 3, examining how our speech under pressure reveals the true state of our hearts and whether we are being guided by earthly or heavenly wisdom.

He presents two surprisingly contrasting case studies: Abraham, the father of the Jewish nation and epitome of righteousness; and Rahab, the controversial gentile prostitute. Both of them demonstrate saving faith through works.

Focusing on the first half of James 2, Malcolm explores the sin of partiality and how, as recipients of God's grace, we are compelled to extend that same mercy to others. We examine how Paul's Epistle to the Romans complements the Epistle of James, revealing that while our salvation is assured by faith alone in Jesus Christ, our actions reveal the condition of our hearts. Do we show partiality to our neighbours based on appearance or status? Do we hold on to the values of the world or to the values of Christ? Are we living representations of the truth that mercy triumphs over judgment?

Today Malcolm begins a new series in the Book of James—often called the Proverbs of the New Testament—which explores how genuine belief translates into practical action. Discover why James prioritises everyday Christian living, from handling financial pressures to the discipline of listening before we speak.

Link to the slides.
